Spring in the estuaries sees a changing dynamic amongst the fish species.
The juvenile Australian Salmon are getting ready to take their chances and head out to sea and this allows the babies of some other species to come into the safety of the harbour, where they will be more protected from predation.
The Albany SHS Marine Science group has studied these ideas for two decades, and we’re happy to say the harbour's overall health is quite good.
Our marine scientists venture to Perth this Term, where we will present our data to scientists at Murdoch and Edith Cowan Universities and the fisheries officers at DPIRD. Many thanks to Coastwest for their generous grant support, which has made this all possible.
