Term 1, Week 4, February 2020
Parent communication….CONNECT
The plan to use the new platform COMPASS has hit a major snag. Consequently, we will be using CONNECT, Facebook, the website, email and SMS, to ensure important information effectively reaches our parents and wider community. We apologise for this hiccup. We are commencing the emailing of Blueys and Goldies to parents, backdating to the start of term. All course and student performance information will be uploaded onto CONNECT, similar to last year.
Parents who used CONNECT last year can still use the same log on details. Year 7 and new to the school parents will be sent information directly to their email address, about their log on details for CONNECT. If you need any additional support please contact the Liaison Office.
Mobile phone policy implementation
Congratulations to students, staff and parents for a smooth start to 2020. The change in Mobile Phone Policy was significant and the support of the whole community for the policy is appreciated. The impact in the school in classes and at break times is noticeable and positive. Students are more focused in class and the buzz around the grounds during breaks with students chatting is a welcome change.
Awards for 2019 achievement
We recently held our annual awards assembly to recognise academic, cultural and sporting achievement in 2019. The diversity of ways in which students grow and develop their talent and interests is always surprising. Our community support through their financial contribution for Dux awards, in each year group, is very much appreciated.
School Dress Policy
The school dress code is being monitored closely this year and the students have responded well, to the no Hoodie enforcement. We do have spare uniform items for students to change into to support the high standard. If a student had a valid reason for arriving not in uniform, they need to go to the Liaison Office with their note from home.
Liaison Office
We have implemented a one stop shop approach for students needing assistance, called the Liaison Office. This could be a course change, sick, late, handing in excursion information, paying an account, setting up BYOD, wanting to make an appointment with a specific person, it all happens in the one place.
The Student Services team of 2 Program Coordinators, Nurse, Chaplain, Psychologist and 6 Year Coordinators is still in place, with 2 AIEO’s, 2 Learning Support Coordinators and 8 Education Assistants.
