Six Albany SHS students stepped out of their comfort zones and into the vibrant world of concert photography, taking part in the Live@the Town Hall all-ages music event.
Despite challenging low-light conditions and the absence of a camera flash (in keeping with concert photography protocols), our students captured some awe-inspiring shots.
The opportunity came about after a conversation about contributing student photos to the Community Calendar. While that project wasn’t possible, it led to contact with Dylan Moir, who is passionate about youth involvement in Albany events. Although we missed out on photographing the Sky Whales event earlier this year, Dylan kindly invited us to photograph Live@the Town Hall, and we jumped at the chance.
Although it turned out that a professional photographer was on-site (which relieved some pressure), our students were unaware of this when they volunteered. Their commitment and enthusiasm were inspiring, and their efforts were appreciated. We have shared their work with Dylan and thanked him for this fantastic opportunity.
Adding a special touch to the night, the first band performing was Freak Maestro, made up entirely of recent Albany SHS students, including our own Fergus on bass guitar!

Well done all.
