CHARGES AND CONTRIBUTIONS

The financial support of our parents/carers plays an important role in the provision of resources that extend the school’s capacity to add value to a student’s learning experience. Voluntary contributions and compulsory charges paid by parents and carers are used to purchase textbooks, materials and other resources used by students in their everyday classes, 100% of these funds go directly back into your child’s education at the classroom level.

The payment of all compulsory charges is due by the end of Term 1, 2025. For families who are unable to pay the full amount of their child’s Contributions and Charges in one instalment, payment plans are available and are easy to establish. Contact the Finance Office on 6821 1735.

VOLUNTARY APPROVED REQUESTS

Listed at the end of your child’s Charges and Contributions sheet are the Voluntary Approved Requests and Other Optional Costs.

• Boronia Magazine - This is an annual publication which has been an icon of ASHS since 1925. If the publication is not ready for distribution before the end of each year, the magazine will be distributed in the new year.
• Library - The school library has become the hub of cross-curricular learning and information management. We need your support to enable students to have access to quality resources that assist them to build on their information management skills.
• P&C Donation - The P&C fund various projects within the school which benefit all our students. The ASHS P&C Committee meets twice a term and provides an opportunity for parents to be informed and involved in their child’s education.
• Chaplain - Our Chaplain is employed to assist students and is a very valuable support in our school community.

EXTRA COST OPTIONAL COMPONENTS

Albany Senior High School provides a range of extra activities, which may include camps, excursions, and social activities.

The school’s Financial Information handbook, which provides details of all financial matters including a list of possible Extra Cost Optional Components that your child may choose to participate in, and associated costs, can be found here.

If your student wishes to participate in extra cost options, payment is COMPULSORY and will need to be made PRIOR to the event taking place. Teachers will provide information throughout the year. 

Inclusion of an event on the schedule does not necessarily mean it will take place.

LOCKERS

Students may need to use a locker. There is no cost. However, students are required to complete a locker agreement form at the Finance Office and supply their own padlock. Lockers will be allocated to students once a signed Locker Agreement form has been received.  Padlocks will need to be removed, and lockers cleared/ emptied at the end of the school year.  Please note that the locker remains the property of the school and locks will be removed if a breach of the locker agreement occurs.

SECONDARY ASSISTANCE SCHEME

Families who have a Centrelink Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card or Veterans’ Affairs Pensioner Concession Card may be eligible to claim Secondary Assistance, which entitles them to $235 towards education program charges in the first instance, with any residual to be applied to the voluntary contribution (for Years 7 to 10) and $300 Clothing Allowance.

Individual students who hold Health Care cards are not eligible to claim Secondary Assistance unless declared as an independent student from Centrelink (a confirmation letter from Centrelink will need to be supplied).

Application forms can be completed in person at the Finance Office from Wednesday 29 January 2025.

UNIFORMS

Albany SHS students are required to wear school uniform as approved by the School Board. School uniforms are available for purchase from the Perm-A-Pleat Uniform Shop situated at 85 Cockburn Road in Albany, telephone 9800 1246.

Regular Shop Opening Hours

• Tuesday 7.30 am – 11.30 am
• Wednesday & Thursday 1 pm – 5 pm
• Saturday 9 am – 12 noon 

The uniform shop will open for additional hours over the school holiday break.

PURCHASE OF PERSONAL STATIONERY ITEMS

2025 stationery and textbook requirements can be found under the Information heading or by clicking here. A copy is included with this package for your convenience.

Our School Board encourages parents to buy local for the purchase of student requirements.

Stationery

This year the school has joined with Albany Office National. A percentage of the funds parents spend at Albany Office National will be donated to the school’s P&C. These funds will be used to improve facilities for our students.

Textbooks

Can be sourced from local suppliers such as Paperbark Merchants, however, to allow for delivery ready for the start of the school year, you will need to contact them immediately to place an order.
