Country Week 2025 was, quite simply, another sensational week for Albany Senior High School! It was a week full of epic opportunities for our students to not only display their skills on the sporting field, but also to demonstrate the maturity, respect, and sportsmanship that make us proud off the field as well.
From the standout performances of our competition-dominating A Grade Girls Basketball team, to the championship-winning Indoor Cricket team securing back-to-back titles, there were countless highlights. Other teams had to battle through challenges such as injuries, late team changes, and development phases, yet every group represented Albany SHS with humility, determination, and pride.
As always, our ultimate squad goal was to secure the Tier 1 Champion School title, a goal that pushes our students to compete at the highest level of regional competition in WA, uniting individual teams under one banner, and showing that success is not only measured in wins, but in preparation, effort, and teamwork.
The week began strongly with positive results across several sports. However, the middle days proved more challenging, placing us in lower playoff positions than hoped. True to ASHS spirit, the squad rallied on Finals Day, securing victories in the majority of playoff matches. This strong finish lifted us to 4th place overall on the Tier 1 leaderboard, a remarkable achievement considering our upper school has only 250 students, competing against schools with far larger cohorts.
The final standings saw Manea Senior College claim first place, Bunbury Catholic College second, and Bunbury Senior High School third. We were right on their heels in fourth, a result we can be proud of.
Country Week 2025 also marked a special milestone for Mr Quinn, who was officially recognised for 25 years of service to Country Week and School Sport WA. His dedication and commitment have been pivotal not only for Albany SHS, but for many other schools across the state. Well done, Quinny!
