Year 8 Visual Arts students are creating clay sculptures using a Steampunk theme and had the opportunity to gain insight into the inspiration behind the beautiful sculptures created by local artist Janelle Peterson.

Janelle brought in various samples of her sculpture and ceramic works and generously shared her knowledge about being a professional artist. Students were amazed to learn that someone in Albany was selling their artwork worldwide. During her talk, Janelle described artmaking as a process of creativity and development, exploring novel ways to embellish clay with everyday, accessible objects.

Students have since applied Janelle’s techniques as they work on their final artworks. Albany Senior High School thanks Janelle for offering to work with our students to grow their Visual Arts experience.
