Albany SHS was excited to introduce the Albany Is program to our students.
The Albany Is team worked closely with our Aboriginal Intercultural Studies students as they explored the question: What does Albany mean to me? Students reflected on identity, community, culture, and connection to place, sharing their perspectives in thoughtful and powerful ways.
A key focus of the session was learning how audio storytelling can be used to capture stories, perspectives, and lived experiences. Students began developing their own recorded responses, recognising how voice can preserve knowledge, emotion, and connection in ways that written text sometimes cannot.
The workshop was held in our new “Ngalang Bidi” room, meaning “Our Path”, a fitting space for students to reflect on where they come from and the paths they are helping to shape for the future of Albany.
We look forward to seeing (and hearing!) the final stories and thank the Albany Is team for providing this meaningful opportunity for our students to have their voices heard.
