Year 7 students began their Unit to learning program on the Australian Justice System with an engaging visit to the Albany District Court, where they observed the legal system in action. With support from the Court Clerk, Defence Attorney, and Police Prosecutor, students participated in a mock trial that brought courtroom procedures to life.
The accused, “Goldilocks,” stood trial for trespassing and theft, and after hearing all the evidence, our well-informed Year 7 jury delivered a guilty verdict. This hands-on experience deepened students’ understanding of how the justice system operates and sparked thoughtful discussions back in the classroom.
