There was a special kind of buzz in the air as the Year 7s headed off on their first big adventure of high school, a camp that turned out to be every bit as energetic, chaotic, and fun-filled as they hoped. From the moment bags hit the ground to the final sleepy bus ride home, the camp delivered three days of challenge, teamwork, and unforgettable memories.
Students settled quickly into their dorms. Once the nerves faded, the excitement kicked in, especially when activities began.
Archery became an instant favourite, with photos capturing students mid-draw, faces set with determination. Protective dodgeball, challenging rogaining, and the legendary activities run by Mrs Doubkins-Lock, Mr Marshall, and Mr McWhirter kept spirits high and laughter constant. These were consistently mentioned as favourites, and the photos of muddy shoes, triumphant smiles, and teams huddled over scheming, tell the story better than words ever could.
Evenings were just as memorable. The Year 12 prefects stepped up as leaders, running nighttime activities that students absolutely loved. Spotlight lit up the area, literally and figuratively, as students sprinted, hid, and shrieked their way through the dark. The prefects’ group photo, standing proudly before the Year 7 cohort, captures the sense of leadership and connection that shaped the nights.
Meals kept everyone fuelled, the first aid kit kept everyone patched up with plenty of band-aids, and the chocolates-for-prizes kept motivation high. By the final day, students were tired, happy, and already swapping stories about archery bullseyes, near-misses in Spotlight, and the friends they grew closer to.
Year 7 Camp wasn’t just a getaway; it was a milestone. A chance for students to step outside their comfort zones, try new things, and begin shaping the friendships and confidence that will carry them through the years ahead. And judging by the smiles in every photo, they absolutely made the most of it.
