Albany Senior High School was honoured to welcome the Honourable Roger Cook MLA, Premier of Western Australia, along with Albany’s Samantha Rowe MLC, for a special visit and tour of the new Koorntarup West General Learning Area today, Friday, 13 March 2026.
The Hon. Premier Cook was greeted by Albany SHS Captain, Mischa, who warmly welcomed him before accompanying Principal Melissa Walker and guests through the new building.
Also joining the tour were Jarrad Ritchie and Jeff Grundy, Associate Principals, along with Amber Lewis, Head of the English Learning Area, whose leadership has contributed to the effective use of the new learning space, ensuring our school’s ongoing focus on high-quality teaching and learning.
The Premier toured the finished classrooms, modern learning environments and contemporary design features that align with the school’s vision for future‑focused education. Representative from the Albany SHS School Board (Roslyn Holmes) and the P&C President, Peter Barnes, joined the tour to celebrate this achievement and observe firsthand the benefits the new facility brings to the school community. The completed building reflects a significant investment in public education and the evolving needs of the Albany community.
Albany Senior High School extends its appreciation to Premier Roger Cook and Samantha Rowe for taking the time to visit. We also thank our School Board and P&C representatives for attending and for their continued dedication to the school’s development projects.
