It was a full house for the first Young Writers 2026 session, with enthusiastic students from Years 7 to 12 taking part in a full day of writing.

The Young Writers Program provides students with opportunities to work alongside professional authors, develop their creative writing skills and explore different writing styles in an inspiring and supportive environment. The program encourages students to build confidence in their writing, share ideas, and express themselves creatively.

The first session for the year featured Australian author Sally Murphy, who guided students through a range of poetic techniques, helping them strengthen their storytelling and poetic voice.

Throughout the day, students shared their writing, engaged in thoughtful discussions, and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine during their break at the Vancouver Arts Centre, making for a productive and memorable learning experience.
