Write a Book in a Day
Last Friday, 5th June, two teams of ASHS students came together to write and illustrate a complete book in just one day! Our middle school division team - aptly named Goldfish - featured Elena C, Evelyn P, Bo H, Josie B, Anastasia B, Teddy Y, Shrinithi S, Sophie B, and Lily V. Our senior school division team - Stevathon's Disciples - comprised Jamie C, Ziva-Marie S, Keeley M, Sophie W, William S, Cooper C, Amelia J, Samantha S, and Grace B.
Both teams received their story parameters on the morning of the event, completely unseen beforehand, and had to work together to build an entire story around them, all within a tight eight-hour window.
Write a Book in a Day is the ultimate test of teamwork, challenging writers to create something remarkable under pressure. Beyond the glory of state and national prizes, participants also take on the important mission of fundraising for childhood cancer research. Both of our teams are already well underway with their fundraising for The Kids' Cancer Project, and they have until 30 September to keep the momentum going.
Their finished books will also be made available for free to children in hospitals across Australia, a small but meaningful gesture that could brighten a child's day, while the funds raised work towards getting them out of hospital and back in the classroom sooner.
You also get a chance to read these great stories, head to the ASHS library from Week 9 to get your hands on them!
