In the first week back this term, Anthony McEwan, the Major Projects Manager with the City of Albany, came to the school and met with our student leaders and members of the Sustainability Committee to discuss plans for the development of the Mount Clarence and Adelaide precincts. After providing explanations of future planning initiatives, students were asked to provide comment, ideas and to suggest areas of priority. The students engaged really well with the session and provided Anthony and his team with a good insight into the perspectives of our youth. Below is an excerpt of an email he sent in response to his visit.
“Kalinga (colleague) and I were so impressed with the attitude of the kids - their responses were so well-considered, well-measured, well-mannered and really inspiring.
Please pass on our thanks to all the kids and let them know that they are all champions. Their voice really counts and it all helps in the considerations of the plans.
Would be great if some of them could consider running for Council one day!”
