As the year draws to a close, I would like to convey my thanks to the 2019 Student Services Team. The year coordinators have done a wonderful job though out the year working with their student leaders and their year groups as a whole. Bree Crockett (Psychologist), Jennifer Wingard (Chaplain) and Mandi Khan (AIEO) have been a great asset to Student Services and have provided much needed support to many students. I would like to also welcome Jake Louthean who has recently joined our team to support Mandi for the rest of the year and into 2020.
Best wishes go to Bree Crockett, our Psychologist who has been with us for the last two years, and is taking well-earned leave in 2020. We hope to see her back in 2021.
Attendance
A reminder that school doesn’t officially finish for students in Years 7-10 until Thursday December 19, and students are required to be at school until this date. We are in the process of clearing unexplained absences from throughout the year, and I request parents please respond to correspondence received in regards to your child’s attendance as soon as possible. Should a student be absent for 3 or more consecutive days, a medical certificate is required.
If your son/daughter is not returning to ASHS in 2020, please contact ASHS on 98410444 as soon as possible.
End of Year Activities
Activities Day will be run on Wednesday 18 December and is an excellent opportunity for students to participate in a variety of activities run by their teachers. On offer this year include a variety of activities both onsite at ASHS and offsite. Students are requested to collect their forms and register for the activities they would like to do.
Beach/Picnic Day this year will be held on Thursday 19 December. Again remember to return your permission forms for this event as soon as possible.
Transition 2019
Students from our feeder Primary schools have recently been visiting ASHS and participating in their transition program. Each of the schools have had 2 days to familiarize themselves with high school life and have spent some time with their own primary school teachers and sometime participating in lessons delivered by ASHS teachers. The final transition day will occur on Friday December 6 at which time students will be placed into their form groups and take part in various activities in these groups throughout the day.
Year 11 - 2020 Subject Selections
It is not too late to change your subjects for next year. If you have not achieved satisfactory grades in ATAR courses, you may be counselled to reselect a more suitable pathway for next year. Should you wish to make a change please contact the school office to make an appointment.
Year 12
We officially farewelled out Class of 2019 at the Awards evening held at the AEC on November 15. It was great to see all the students come together one last time as a group. Congratulations to all the award recipients. I would like to thank the students who contributed to the evening with performances and our 2020 Prefects who assisted with ceremony. Thank you to all the staff who worked so hard to ensure the smooth running of the evening and to the local community members who provided donations towards the awards of the evening.
