On Thursday 12 March 2020, some talented students entered the STAWA SYNERGY Solar Car Challenge at North Albany Senior High School. Students had to build their car from a kit and have it fit for racing in hour. Inclement Albany weather means the cars had to be able to operate using either battery or solar power. To level the playing field across all schools, no high technology, beefed up motors were allowed and students had to determine the best angles for their panel, size and position of wheels, and gear wheel used. Various students had been involved since fourth term 2019 and two teams of four were selected for the competition.
