We’ve had a busy start to the year with activities occurring and staff and students getting used to the restructuring of Student Services.
A reminder to parents that initial contact for any issues relating to your child is to be through the Liaison office (select option 1 when phoning the school). Most often parents attending meetings are to present at the office to sign in and will be requested to wait there until the person they are meeting is free. Parents are requested not to come straight to Student Services.
Students who are unwell or being collected for other reasons are to be picked up from the front administration area.
Attendance
In these uncertain times I realise some parents will be choosing to keep their students at home. As information is regularly changing, please ensure you refer to the most recent communications. If your student is unwell, please keep them at home and communicate this to the school.
Wellbeing Program
The Upper School Wellbeing program, consisting of students from Year 10-12 has begun in full force. The students have engaged and participated in two sessions over the last fortnight. They have been learning and applying skills of different forms of meditation and breathing strategies. We have been so fortunate to have expert in the field, Claire Bew, take us through these sessions. We have another two sessions to go and then we will begin the selection process with the year 7-9 students.
Meditation is the art of relaxing the body quickly and calming the mind. Meditations will be conducted in a seated-on-a-chair position – no radical ability to sit on the floor is required! Techniques taught will be body and breath based, ranging from 10 seconds to 10 minutes in duration. The concept of the ‘Ideal Operating Zone” (arousal/stress V performance curve) will be explored.
Lost Property
There is a considerable amount of lost property currently in Student Services. If your child is missing any items, they are encouraged to come to Student Services to collect their belongings.
