Report by Year 11 students, Toby Hall and Ben Altus
We all met up in the rain at 6 am on Friday, 14 August. The weather had been hectic for weeks, but we were fully stoked to get out to Nanarup and find that the weather was totally epic. The event could not be held at Ocean Beach like planned due to the council opening the Inlet. Ritchie, Sims, and Willmore rigged up a mega-marquee with tables chairs and Ritchies famous 4x4 BBQ. We all had a ripper day and got some decent waves. Some mintox sets came through infront of the inlet later in the afternoon. Congratulations to all of our competitors that placed first or second. A big shakka to Holly Minter who competed in her fifth inter-school surfing event in a row, and to the rest of the Year 12’s who sadly won’t be with the team next year. A special mention to Ollie Kellow who was literally frothing at the mouth on the way out to the surf spot (thanks for that). Already can’t wait till next year! Yeww!
