Albany Senior High School 2025 Presentation Evening – A Celebration of Achievement, Growth and Community
On a warm and uplifting evening at the Albany Entertainment Centre, Albany Senior High School proudly welcomed families, staff, and distinguished guests to celebrate the graduating Class of 2025. The annual Presentation Evening is one of the most significant events in the school calendar—an opportunity to honour the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of our Year 12 students.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome from Masters of Ceremonies, Mr Jarrad Ritchie and Mr Jeff Grundy, followed by a respectful Acknowledgement of Country presented by student Te Paea.. Soon after, the audience stood for a beautifully performed National Anthem, delivered by talented members of the Year 12 band.
A number of honoured guests joined us for the evening, including representatives from the City of Albany, the Department of Education, the University of Western Australia, Great Southern Regional TAFE, Advance Housing, ASHS Board, ASHS P&C, ASHS Alumni, and local schools. Their presence highlighted the strong community partnerships that continue to support Albany SHS students in their learning journey.
Principal Ms Melissa Walker delivered an inspiring address, reflecting on the growth and resilience demonstrated by the Class of 2025. In their final official duty as School Captains, Dakota and Lily spoke with poise and gratitude about their time at ASHS and the legacy they leave for future student leaders.
Celebrating the Class of 2025
Presentation Evening is, above all, a celebration of our students. Each student was formally acknowledged as they crossed the stage to receive their completion folders, accompanied by the support and applause of their families and staff. Musical interludes performed by Year 12 Music students added energy and artistry to the evening, showcasing the depth of talent within the cohort.
The second half of the ceremony recognised students who achieved excellence in their academic and vocational pathways. Heads of Learning Areas presented awards across English, HASS, Science, Mathematics, Technologies, Arts, Health and Physical Education, and VET programs. Awards were supported by community donors, whose generosity continues to shape the opportunities available to our young people.
A full list of awards is below. The evening culminated with the announcement of the Vocational Dux, awarded to Hayley, and the ATAR Dux, presented to Kesia, a remarkable student who has demonstrated academic excellence, quiet determination, and a deep commitment to learning.
A Community Effort
In closing the ceremony, Mr Ritchie acknowledged the many people who contributed to the success of the evening: the Albany Entertainment Centre, school staff, award donors, the music team, Year 11 Prefects, and all who helped bring this event to life. Special appreciation was extended to staff for their support of the Year 12 cohort, and work behind the scenes.
Finally, the Year 12 students stood to applaud their families, an emotional and heartfelt moment recognising the guidance, encouragement, and love that helped them reach this milestone.
