Our Year 9 students recently had the exciting opportunity to step outside the classroom and explore two dynamic industries: Nursing and Hairdressing. This Career Taster Experience was designed to give students a real-world glimpse into what these professions involve and the pathways available to pursue them.

The day was packed with hands-on activities that allowed students to develop practical skills and gain confidence in trying something new. In the Nursing session, students learned about patient care, basic health checks, and the importance of empathy and communication in the healthcare sector. Meanwhile, the Hairdressing workshop gave them the chance to practice styling techniques, understand the creative aspects of the profession, and appreciate the precision and artistry involved.

Beyond the practical experience, students were introduced to VETdss options and discussed how vocational education can open doors to rewarding careers. These conversations encouraged students to start thinking about their future pathways and the skills they might need to succeed.

This experience was not only informative but also inspiring—sparking curiosity and helping students see the possibilities that lie beyond school. A big thank you to the facilitators who made the day engaging and memorable!
