What a busy few weeks we’ve had around ASHS! The highlight for me has been the Year 7 Camp. I was able to spend a few days hanging out with a wonderful bunch of Year 7 students at Camp Kennedy.
I led sessions around “Positive Peer Relationships” and we got to know each other by playing games, working through peer situations - how would you handle this?, making friendship bracelets and putting together a large Camp banner. We’ve also been busy with our ARO (ASHS Reaches Out) project and currently we are collecting full sized toiletry items to make bags for the Albany Women’s Refuge. These assist women in crisis and domestic violence situations. We’ve had a tremendous response and I look forward to putting the bags together with the staff/students. If you would like to donate to the project, feel free to send items in with your students or drop them by the Student Liaison office.
Finally, take time out this week to spread some positivity---brainstorm one way your family can do something for someone else, whether that be dropping some food off for a friend who can’t get out, sending a positive text, writing a card to an elderly person, or phoning someone who could use a kind word.
