Students participating in the Butcher Taster Workshop at TAFE have had an inspiring and memorable start to their program, marked by rich cultural learning and meaningful experiences.
On the first day, students had the privilege of hearing from Elder Lester Coyne, who shared powerful stories of the old ways and his deep family connections. His storytelling offered valuable insights into Noongar culture and history, setting a strong foundation for the journey ahead.
The second day took students out on Country to Mount Many Peaks, where they were guided by Uncle Larry Blight. In this special setting, students gained first-hand knowledge and understanding of cultural practices, deepening their appreciation for the land and its stories.
This has been a wonderful beginning to a journey of culture, learning, and connection. Next week, students will continue their exploration through cultural cooking experiences, including visits to Plantagenet Meats and campfire cooking sessions.
We look forward to seeing how this unique program continues to inspire and educate.
