Albany Senior High School is incredibly proud to announce that our school community has raised over a staggering $11,000 as part of this year’s World’s Greatest Shave – well and truly surpassing our original goal of $3,000.
The Albany SHS Shave Team set out with a shared commitment to help support Australians facing blood cancer, and the response from students, staff, and the wider community was phenomenal. What started as a modest fundraising goal quickly grew thanks to our school community's energy, generosity, and compassion.
A number of staff and students volunteered to shave their heads to raise money and awareness for the Leukaemia Foundation. Special recognition goes to:
Each of these individuals stepped up for the cause, showing great courage and community spirit. The event itself was filled with energy and enthusiasm, with students eagerly gathering to witness the head shaves and support their peers and teachers.
A huge thank you goes to Tony’s Hair Salon, who generously donated their time and skills to shave the heads of our brave participants. Their support added a professional touch to the day and helped make the event run smoothly.
While the act of shaving heads attracted plenty of attention, the real heroes are those facing blood cancer and the dedicated researchers, carers, and medical professionals working tirelessly towards a cure. The Albany SHS community is proud to stand with them.
The school extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed, whether through donations, encouragement, or simply spreading the word. This achievement is a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together for a meaningful cause.
Together, we’ve helped fund vital research and support services for people living with blood cancer. We couldn’t be prouder of the Albany SHS Shave Team and the incredible support they received from across our school.
