Country Week 2020
With the beginning of the new school year the view of Country Week appears on the horizon. This annual sporting and cultural event has helped shape the proud identity of not only our fine school but also countless thousands of previous participants that have represented ASHS. The competition takes place in the first week of July in Perth, comprising of approximately 50 schools and nearly 4000 individual participants. 2020 will see us take boys and girls teams in Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Hockey, AFL, Speech & Debate and Dance with a Girls Netball team.
Nominations and tryouts are taking place in weeks 5 and 6, and all students Year 8 and above are welcome to try out. Please collect a permission note from the Physical Education office if you are interested in trying out for one or more teams.
If selected, students will be expected to participate in two training sessions per week, and competitions throughout the period leading up to the carnival. It is a fantastic experience that provides a platform for our students to develop their strengths and weaknesses in the physical, social, and emotional domains, whilst creating a lifelong connection with their team mates and their school. Further details are available in the Country Week policy on the website.
If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to make contact with me through the school.
